You can now show interest in the Google Pixel 7a on Amazon
Now that the Pixel 7 lineup is available, speculation has shifted to the next “a” phone and the foldable Pixel gadget, both of which may or may not be real. Amazon says its release is imminent. The massive e-commerce platform is already letting people sign up for the announcement.
There’s no word on when exactly the Pixel 7a will be announced, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer. After the success of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google released the Pixel 6a in July. It’s still a relatively new model, but with Google’s new Tensor chip and the “visor” camera island design, a refresh wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.
There was talk that the 7a wouldn’t be released until early 2023, so we could have to wait a while. Google must think very highly of the “a” phone if it has placed an order for 4 million of them, according to the same story.
The Pixel 7 is called “Panther,” the 7 Pro is “Cheetah,” and the 7a is “Felix” according to their respective code names. According to past precedent, the 7a’s screen size will be between 6.0 and 6.1 inches, less than that of the standard Pixel 7.
The fact that Amazon seems to assume there is more than one model of Pixel 7a by using the phrase “Pixel 7a family” is worth noting. This isn’t a 4G/5G issue; are we holding out for a Pixel 7a and 7a XL, which would have 5G like the 5a and 6a do?
For now, all we can do is subscribe and wait for Amazon to spill the beans on the Pixel 7a. It wouldn’t be the first time the online retailer leaked information about a secret smartphone.
