Water and dust resistance of IP67 certification confirmed for Samsung Galaxy Tab S9
For over a decade, Samsung has been releasing tablets without water- and dust-proofing in its Galaxy Tab S series, only reserving the feature for its Active line. However, according to SamMobile, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 series will finally receive the official IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
While Samsung had been applying coatings to its tablets to repel water and dust, the reason for the delay in receiving official certification is unclear, though it may have been related to insurance and warranty matters. With the new rating, the Galaxy Tab S9 tablets would become more attractive for use in environments such as bathrooms and kitchens, where protection against water and dust is important.
The Galaxy Tab S9 tablets are expected to launch in the second half of 2023, alongside the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip foldables, likely in August.
