Sony’s Xperia 5 IV has received FCC certification
The Federal Communications Commission has certified an upcoming Sony smartphone, which is said to be the Xperia 5 IV. The device listing confirms a few key specs including the phone’s dimensions — it is 155.74mm tall and 67.1mm wide.
The Sony Xperia 5 IV has a screen diagonal of 153.5mm, a tad shorter than the Xperia 5 III’s 6.1-inch panel. The new device is also a tad shorter and narrower than its predecessor, which stood at 157mm and 68mm respectively.
Sony’s Xperia 5 IV will offer a USB-C port for charging and data transfers as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The listings also confirm NFC connectivity and wireless charging – two features not seen on previous Xperia 5 models.
The Sony Xperia 5 IV will also get Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, which is the latest standard of the Wi-Fi Alliance, and support for RFID smart cards, which are widely used in Japan. We have no other details available at present, but we expect to hear more about this device in the coming weeks.
Past rumors suggest that the Xperia 5IV will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The phone is expected to recycle the Xperia 5III’s camera setup, meaning a 12 MP (IMX557) main sensor, a 12MP IMX663 telephoto module and a 12MP (IMX363) ultrawide snapper.
