Samsung explains the new and improved features of the One UI 5
At its annual Samsung Developer Conference, Samsung revealed its own version of Android 13 with One UI 5, along with a full rundown of the newest features coming to Samsung phones in the near future. Samsung has announced that in the next weeks, customers of Galaxy flagships like the Galaxy S22 series, Z Flip4, and Z Fold4 will have access to One UI 5 as a stable build firmware update.
The revamped lock screen is the first change, providing more room for personalization through the addition of wallpaper, a clock face, and color schemes. Another cool feature is the ability to set a short film as your lock screen wallpaper.
Samsung’s latest innovations include smart suggestions for widgets and apps that adapt to your preferences over time. New recognition options are available in One UI 5’s Routines, which can be used to kick off automations. The new Modes function allows you to tailor your app’s settings and functionality to specific times of day, such as before bed or during exercise.
When you don’t feel like chatting, but still want to take calls, use Bixby Text Call, Samsung’s answer to Google Screen calling.
The other party will be alerted when you pick up a call using Bixby Text Call, and you’ll be able to dictate what you want Bixby to say while it transcribes what they’re saying in real time. The Korean version of Bixby Text Call has been out for some time, and the English version is scheduled for release somewhere in the first few months of 2023.
Samsung’s photo gallery now has a text-extraction feature.
Moreover, a new Connected devices menu and privacy center with security and privacy dashboards have been introduced. When you try to send an image containing private information, like a passport or credit card number, Samsung now displays a warning message in the Share Panel.
