Apple has released iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 which include Freeform and Apple Music Sing
Updates to the newest versions of Apple‘s mobile operating systems began rolling out a few hours ago for all compatible devices. We are, of course, discussing iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2.
These new products mark the first appearance of Freeform. Apple describes this as a new software made for “creative thinking and cooperation.” It provides a “fluid canvas” for the purpose of visual organization and layout, and it includes tools for collaborating and sharing your work. Without leaving the board, “a variety of files” can be inserted and previewed without delay. Since iCloud stores Freeform boards, they are accessible from any iOS device.
Apple Music Sing, the karaoke function that was revealed earlier this year, is also included in these updates. SharePlay support in Game Center for multiplayer games so that you can play with the people you are on a FaceTime call with is a new feature. The total number of iCloud data categories protected via end-to-end encryption is now 23, including iCloud Backup, Notes, and Photos. New settings let you hide the wallpaper or notifications when Always-On display is enabled on iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
There are also a number of bug fixes and enhancements, such as enhanced search within Messages, location-specific news articles within Weather, real-time updates to shared notes via Participant Cursors in Notes, AirDrop resetting to Contacts Only after 10 minutes, and Crash Detection optimizations for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
iPad Pro 12.9″ (5th gen and later), iPad Pro 11″ (3rd gen and later), and iPad Air 5th gen can all connect to an external display with a resolution of up to 6K, can drag and drop files and windows to and from the connected display, and can run up to eight apps simultaneously (four on the iPad’s screen and four on the external one).
The problem where multitouch gestures stopped working when the Zoom accessibility feature was active has been fixed, and Tracking Notifications will now notify you if an AirTag that has gotten detached from its owner is close and has recently produced a chime to signal that it is moving.
Installing the new software as soon as possible is highly recommended because the upgrades fix over 30 security issues. Since Apple rarely uses rolling releases, the latest versions of iOS and iPad OS should be available to everyone immediately. Even if you haven’t been notified, you can still check for updates and have them begin downloading instantly.
