An affordable new smartphone, the Oppo A17k, has discreetly made its debut in India
Oppo just last month released the A17, a low-end smartphone, to the Indian market, and today we get what is essentially a variant of that device. Oppo has quietly announced the A17k on the Indian version of its website.
The Oppo A17k is equipped with a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 720×1612 at a smooth 60 frames per second, a MediaTek Helio G35 system-on-chip (SoC), 3GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 3.5mm headphone port, and a 5,000 mAh battery. Both the back 8 MP autofocus camera and the front 5 MP fixed focus camera lack optical image stabilization.
In addition to being splash-proof (certified at IPX4), the phone’s fingerprint sensor is located within the power button. It’s powered by Android 12, and on top of that, ColorOS 12.1. A17k are available in either gold or navy blue. There is less RAM on the A17k, a lower-resolution main rear camera, and no depth sensor compared to the already-available A17. They’re otherwise identical in every way but for the colors available.
At INR 10,499, the Oppo A17k is also less expensive than the A17, and it is “coming soon” to the company’s Indian web store.
